Paddle Trip for Clean Water

  • Boone County Democrats PO Box 535 Boone, IA 50036 United States (map)

Our campaign for clean water is heading into the final stretch, and we have something special planned to kick off September.

Starting September 1, Chris will paddle 100 miles down the Des Moines River to draw attention to pollution affecting one of Iowa’s most important drinking-water sources. And you’re invited to join him along the way!

Sign up to join Chris Jones on the Paddle Trip for Clean Water!

The "Paddle Trip for Clean Water" begins with a rally Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in Emmetsburg, in our opponent Mike Naig’s home county of Palo Alto, which has some of the highest cancer rates in the nation.

Each morning after that, Chris and supporters will paddle several miles down the Des Moines River, highlighting sources of nitrate and other pollution that flow downstream toward drinking-water supplies serving hundreds of thousands of Iowans.

Each day on the river will conclude with a Clean River Rally featuring food, drinks, music, and local speakers. We’ll hold events in Humboldt, Fort Dodge, Lehigh, Boone, and finally Des Moines.

Join Chris on the river for a day—or sign up for one of our Clean River Rallies.

Here’s the full schedule for the week. Pick an event, bring a friend, and help spread the word!
