Pufferbilly Days Parade
Join our Boone County friends and neighbors in the annual Pufferbilly Days Parade in Madrid. @BenOlsen with his Farmall tractor will be pulling the float. You can ride or walk. Parade starts at 9:30, come around 9 and look for the Democrats.
Madrid Labor Day Parade
Join our Boone County friends and neighbors in the annual Labor Day Parade in Madrid. You can ride or walk. Parade starts at 10, come by 9 and look for the Democrats. Our float will be pulled by none other than Ben Olsen and his restored Farmall!
Here are the details for the Madrid Labor Day parade:
We will meet at 8:30 AM in the parking lot at Edgewood Park, West 8th and Main Streets. Volunteers can leave their vehicles in the lot and we will pull the float from there to the parade and back when the parade is over. At 9:00 AM we will pull the float to the parade site and register at the post office. The parade starts at 10:00 AM. Past experience teaches us to expect heat and humidity. It's Labor Day in Iowa! It's a fun parade with lots of people lining the route.
Chris Jones Water Quality Flotilla
Join Secretary of Agriculture candidate Chris Jones for a float trip down the Des Moines River with a stop in Boone on September 5th. This event offers a chance to hear about Jones’s plans for Iowa farmers, rural communities, and sustainable agriculture while enjoying the river and learning about Iowa’s water quality problems. The event is open to supporters, community members, and media. In Boone we will have:

Paddle Trip for Clean Water
Our campaign for clean water is heading into the final stretch, and we have something special planned to kick off September.
Starting September 1, Chris will paddle 100 miles down the Des Moines River to draw attention to pollution affecting one of Iowa’s most important drinking-water sources. And you’re invited to join him along the way!

The "Paddle Trip for Clean Water" begins with a rally Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in Emmetsburg, in our opponent Mike Naig’s home county of Palo Alto, which has some of the highest cancer rates in the nation.
Each morning after that, Chris and supporters will paddle several miles down the Des Moines River, highlighting sources of nitrate and other pollution that flow downstream toward drinking-water supplies serving hundreds of thousands of Iowans.
Each day on the river will conclude with a Clean River Rally featuring food, drinks, music, and local speakers. We’ll hold events in Humboldt, Fort Dodge, Lehigh, Boone, and finally Des Moines.
